Nancy’s Baby Shower
As you all are already aware, beautiful little Milly is here, doing well and growing way too quickly! We love her so much, and I have loved seeing her grow over these past several weeks. This post was written before she arrived, but was delayed in posting until just yesterday. Even though this post was from earlier this year, we still wanted to share it with you. Hope you enjoy!

I’ve seen that cute little baby bump grow over the past few months, but honestly it didn’t hit me until Nancy’s baby shower. Something about seeing her unwrap things like high chairs and mounds of diapers and teeny tiny onesies and other baby things quickly made my brain transition from “Aw, Nancy’s pregnant!” to “Oh my gosh, this is really happening”. I’ve felt that little one kick and somersault and I, along with every single beautiful lady that attended this shower, cannot wait to meet him/her (him, though, really).
Now. Let’s talk about this shower for a minute. Emily Thomas is a beautiful, brilliant soul – and the brain and hostess behind this fantastic Woodland themed shower. If you know Nancy, you know she has a special place in her heart for the simplistic, the beautifully quiet, the serene, as depicted in the Woodland. Whenever I think of this, I think of CS Lewis in how he describes “the Wood Between the Worlds” in “The Magician’s Nephew”:
“The trees grew so close together and were so leafy that he could get no glimpse of the sky. All the light was green light that came through the leaves: but there must have been a very strong sun overhead, for this green daylight was bright and warm. It was the quietest wood you could possibly imagine. You could almost feel the trees growing. You could almost feel the trees drinking the water up with their roots. This wood was very much alive.”
In my mind, Emily took this description and formed a beautiful shower out of it. I loved photographing the personal touches, the details, the sweet people that gathered to celebrate this new little life. I love even more that I get to be one of those people to share in the joy up close, as well.
And, here we are. With this love-filled baby shower (and a few others) behind them, Will and Nancy are 9 months in, neck deep in planning for maternity leave, prepared as they’ll ever be, and less than one month out from meeting their baby. If it hasn’t hit you yet, let it hit you now… Baby Ray is coming soon, y’all. Get excited!
